After an impressive showing at the Olympia, Melvyn Anthony has been rewarded for his efforts with a 1-year endorsement deal with supplement giant Twin Lab. Melvyn has been working with none other than Charles Glass in his quest to improve upon his 2nd place finish at last years Ironman. He was scheduled to compete at this years Ironman on February 17 & at the Arnold Classic a week later, but a torn triceps tendon in his right arm on the 8th of February has put those plans on hold. As one can imagine the Marvelous one would be a little down from an injury such as this, but when I spoke to him he was his usual happy self. I will keep you updated on Melvyns recovery & future competitive plans.

Another man to have injured him self in the line of duty is Milos Sarcev. On the 11th of January while on the hack squat Milos tore his right Quadriceps. This is a major set back for Milos as he was planning on doing some damage at this years shows, the word is that Milos has come through with flying colors after going under the knife on the 18th & he has sent word that he plans on doing the NOC later this year, if he can walk on stage in mid June it will be an incredible effort.

One man who is looking for redemption is Chris Cormier; the Real Deal took stock of himself after his disappointing 5th place finish at the Olympia. Chris has decided that it is time to become more disciplined if he hopes to reach his eventual goal of claiming the Mr. Olympia crown. Chris's words regarding the comments of Dennis James & Nasser El Sombaty were simple & to the point. All they have done is awaken the sleeping giant & that he says, is bad news for everyone else. Look for Chris to repeat at the Ironman.

Craig Titus & Kelly Ryan have settled nicely into their 5-bedroom home in Las Vegas. Craig has come to terms with Weider for an additional 2 years & was happy to report that he got the salary increase he was looking for. He has been training the house down & is weighing a huge 275lbs; he is looking to walk on stage at the May 4th Dallas pro show at 250lbs of rock hard muscle. I can guarantee one thing. You will be seeing a bigger & better Craig Titus in 2002.
Kelly is continuing to improve her physique which has come along in leaps & bounds the last 2 years, the only people that don't seem to acknowledge Kelly's improvements are the judges as they continue to place her low in the physique round. Some of Kelly's placing in this round are ridiculous to say the least, but this just drives Kelly harder towards her eventual goal of claiming the Ms Fitness Olympia title. Kelly has signed on for a further year with Bio-Chem & will be writing for Oxygen Magazine in her own column called " Old School training with Kelly Ryan".

Trainer to the stars Frankie Cassavette, has made quite a name for himself not only as a trainer to professional athletes including Flex Wheeler & Chris Cormier along with movie stars including such people as Denzel Washington & Ray Liotta. For some people this would be enough, but not Frankie, he is now also starring in Hollywood, look to see Frankie in the new motion picture John Q with Denzel Washington.
Frankie is featured in the trailer for the movie not once but twice so you can bet that his part isn't a small one.
Another bodybuilder to hit the big Screen is top Canadian bodybuilder & power lifter Eddie Salem who made his acting debut in Roller Ball & from accounts his fight scene is an eye catcher.

Bodybuilding Tid bits

1.Bodybuilding legend & 1948 Mr. America George Eiferman passed away recently at the age of 76. He will be missed by many as one of the early pioneers of bodybuilding.

2.Lee Priest's other half Cathy Priest has decided against retirement & will be competing at the Ms. International in Columbus Ohio.

3.Amy Fahdli & Tito Raymond are heading down the isle; they will be getting married at a date that is yet to be set.

4.Lena Yohansen has not had her contract with Weider renewed & is yet to find herself a new sponsor.

5.King Kamali will be contesting the NOC in New York in 2002. He had initially stated that he would wait for the Olympia.

6. Dennis James has pulled out of the Ironman due to suffering a bad case of the flu; he will be at the Arnold Classic on the 23rd of February.
