Left bottom picture: This picture shows an inside view of a 2 1/2 pound + LBS add on plate. Notice the 1/4" thick neoprene washer inside. This ensures add on plates stay snug and secured to dumbbells while in use.
Middle bottom picture: This picture shows the outside view of a 2 1/2 pound + LBS add on plate. The hole at the top is used for spinning the plate on and off and also for hanging the plate on the plate tree or dumbbell rack. The smaller middle hole is used as a guide for quick plate application.
Right bottom picture: This picture shows a close up of a case hardened threaded dumbbell collar.
